Being a Relate counsellor is a very interesting and rewarding job in which you can make a difference to the lives of many people.

During training, you work as a volunteer on a placement at your local centre. At Relate London North West, we welcome student placement applications from all of our local communities in the London boroughs of Brent, Ealing, Harrow and Hillingdon.

As we offer counselling at weekends and in the evenings, the opportunity for flexible working enables you to fit Relate work around other commitments. Once you have completed your training, there are opportunities to work as a paid employee of the centre or to continue work as a volunteer.

Initial selection for training and the training itself is done by the Relate Institute. The selection process identifies people who have the academic ability, personal characteristics and life experience which suit them well for training and work as relationship counsellors. The selection process ensures equality of opportunity for applicants, the avoidance of discriminatory practices, and that trainees of a consistently high quality are recruited.
